About This Project

“Undiscovered” Species of MN

Dick Wenkel

A tongue-in-cheek scientific display of previously undiscovered flora and fauna inhabiting the fields, forests, and lakes of Minnesota, complete with both common names and appropriate genus and species identification.

This exhibit hopes to provide an opportunity for people to think about looking at everyday nature from a slightly different perspective and encourage them to think a bit more creatively. This display is made up of materials accessible in neighborhood yards, woods, parks, and ponds and the only creative requirements are a sharp eye and an active imagination. These are available to everyone, especially children. It may also provide a painless way for anyone to gain a bit of knowledge of plants, animals and taxonomy.
